Tirukoodaloor Aaduthurai Perumal Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Here the Lord is worshipped as Jagath Rakshakan Perumal, meaning the protector of the universe. The temple is situated on the banks of the sacred Cauvery River.

🏛 Temple History

According to legend, Lord Vishnu appeared here to protect the world from dangers and bless the sages performing penance on the banks of the Cauvery River. Because many sages gathered and worshipped together, the place came to be called Tirukoodaloor, meaning the sacred place where people assembled. The temple is praised in the hymns of Thirumangai Alvar, making it one of the sacred Divya Desam temples.
