🏛 Temple History

This temple is closely associated with Nandi Deva, the divine bull of Lord Shiva. According to legend, Nandi once incurred a curse and came here to worship Lord Vishnu to seek redemption. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared and blessed him, giving the name Nandipura Vinnagaram. The temple is praised in Divya Prabandham by Thirumangai Alwar. It has ancient Chola architecture and has been a significant Vaishnavite pilgrimage center for centuries.
